I Love You, Daddy!

I miss daddy...

Just moments ago, I was toying with iTunes and played "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle.  It's a song about a father and his "little girl."  While listening to it, I could imagine my dad.  I cried. The song fits us perfectly.

There's two things I know for sure
She was sent here from heaven
And she's daddy's little girl
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night
She talks to Jesus and I close my eyes
And I thank God for all of the joy in my life
Oh but most of all
For butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair
Walk beside the pony daddy
It's my first ride
I know the cake looks funny daddy
But i sure tried
Oh with all that I've done wrong
I must have done something right
To deserve a hug every morning
And butterfly kisses at night

Sweet 16 today
She's lookin like her mama
A little more every day
One part woman
The other part girl
To perfume and make up
From ribbons and curls
Trying her wings out in a great big world
But I remember
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair
You know how much I love you daddy
But if you don't mind
I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time
Oh with all that I've done wrong
I must have done something right
To deserve her love every morning
And butterfly kisses at night

All the precious time
Like the wind the years go by
Precious Butterfly
Spread your wings and fly

She'll change her name today
She'll make a promise and I'll give her away
Standing in the bride room just staring at her
She asked me what I'm thinkin'
And I said I'm not sure
I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl
And she leaned over
And gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair
Walk me down the aisle daddy
It's just about time
Does my wedding gown look pretty daddy?
Daddy don't cry
Oh with all that I've done wrong
I must have done something right
To deserve her love every morning and butterfly kisses
I couldn't ask God for more than this is what love is
I know I've got to let her go but I'll always remember
Every hug in the morning and butterfly kisses

Even now that I'm 26, I am still my daddy's little girl.  I may be changing my last name sometime soon, but he's definitely not losing me.  All my life I have always been a happy girl, and I owe that to my father.  If not for him, I wouldn't have a happy mommy, and without a happy mommy, there would be no happy children.  :)

I love you daddy!  I can't wait for you to come home. :)

Rolly's Video Link For Dad

I woke up this morning and saw on my facebook newsfeed that my fiancé (*blush*) posted a link on my daddy's wall.  It's a video of Brian McKnight's song.  Aaawww.

MARRY YOUR DAUGHTER

Sir, I'm a bit nervous
'Bout being here today
Still not real sure what I'm going to say
So bear with me please
If I take up too much of your time.
See in this box is a ring for your oldest.
She's my everything and all that I know is
It would be such a relief if I knew that we were on the same side
Very soon I'm hoping that I...

Can marry your daughter
And make her my wife
I want her to be the only girl that I love for the rest of my life
And give her the best of me 'til the day that I die, yeah
I'm gonna marry your princess
And make her my queen
She'll be the most beautiful bride that I've ever seen
Can't wait to smile
When she walks down the aisle
On the arm of her father
On the day that I marry your daughter

She's been hearing for steps
Since the day that we met (I'm scared to death to think of what would happen if she ever left)
So don't you ever worry about me ever treating her bad
I've got most of my vows done so far (So bring on the better or worse)
And 'til death do us part
There's no doubt in my mind
It's time
I'm ready to start
I swear to you with all of my heart...

I'm gonna marry your daughter
And make her my wife
I want her to be the only girl that I love for the rest of my life
And give her the best of me 'till the day that I die, yeah
I'm gonna marry your princess
And make her my queen
She'll be the most beautiful bride that I've ever seen
I can't wait to smile
As she walks down the aisle
On the arm of her father
On the day that I marry your daughter

The first time I saw her
I swear I knew that I'd say I do

I'm gonna marry your daughter
And make her my wife
I want her to be the only girl that I love for the rest of my life
And give her the best of me 'til the day that I die
I'm gonna marry your princess
And make her my queen
She'll be the most beautiful bride that I've ever seen
I can't wait to smile
As she walks down the aisle
On the arm of her father
On the day that I marry your daughter

This is so touching. Thank you hal. ♥ Dad rarely checks his facebook so I'll just be the one to tell him about your post. I love you!

An Audio Clip with My Fiancé

An audio clip recorded on our way home, right after we got engaged.

On cloud 9,

26 and Engaged ♥

Perhaps one of the highlights in a girl's life is when her love asks for her hand in marriage.  It's when he signifies that he intends to spend his life with her forever, and asks if she'd love to do the same. Well, this big question was lovingly raised to me last night... and Rolly did it it in his most amazing way. ♥

It was my birthday, and he brought me to NINYO Fusion Cuisine and Wine Lounge in Loyola Heights.  It was probably the most romantic restaurant he has ever brought me to.  The ambiance was cozy and intimate, it was like a restaurant within a garden, with beautiful vines hanging all over the place.
Even before my birthday, I already felt that something was about to happen.  Rolly was never good at keeping secrets, so I knew something was going on. He would always slip, telling me things he would later on realize he shouldn't have told me. Hehe. In my head, I anticipated that he was going to propose... but as to how, I had no clue.

The moment we entered the compound, we were led to a gazebo. Rose petals and lit candles adorned the floor and the table.  My heart was pounding softly as I sat down, I knew this was it.  I asked Rolly, "Did you have these prepared?" He did not answer. He just smiled.

We had dinner, and everything went on as usual.  The food was great, especially the salmon and steak!

During dinner, Rolly and I sat in front of each other. But after the meal, he transferred seats to be beside me.  He showed me a video slideshow which he prepared. It had our pictures arranged chronologically, from the time when he was still courting me up to the present.  It was a long slideshow with background music, hehe. Then went the end frame which said:

"I have lived the best years of my life with you, and now,
I must give voice to my heart's desire.
I want to spend forever with you by my side,
and cherish you as God's greatest blessing every single day.
WILL YOU MARRY ME?"

Then the waiter turned up with a plate of chocolate cake with strawberry. On top was the ring.

Rolly went down on his knees and said his piece. Aaaww! I was teary-eyed.  I didn't know how to react even though I was already expecting it. I hugged him tight and said YES.  Of course I will. I want to marry him.
The ring was exactly what I wanted. Simple and elegant, without fuss. It's white gold with a small center piece diamond.  I love it!

But more than the ring, I love what it symbolizes --- our desire to spend the rest of our lives with each other.  In fact even without an engagement ring, we had always known that we will grow old together, that we will raise a family of our own, that we will traverse life's paths side by side, now and in the years to come.

I love you, Mahal! ♥ I know both of us can't wait to start planning the wedding. =D

Here are more photos before we headed home. :) Pardon the quality. These had to be taken without flash eh. =P
'Til now, I still feel ecstatic. Waaaaah! ♥

PS. Check out my facebook account for more (& better quality) pictures. ;)

Thank You

"That my heart may sing to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give You thanks for ever."
~ Psalm 30:12

Today is my 26th. And before I start my day, I'd like to offer this thanksgiving to You, Lord.  Thank You for the good life, for the 26 years which have been beyond beautiful.  I've been truly blessed - with a wonderful family, an ideal partner, faithful friends, and an amazing job.  There's really nothing more I could ask for.  True, I'm still far from being successful, I'm still very far from being at the top of my game.  But the things that matter, they're all in my life already.  Thus, I AM COMPLETE.  Thank You Lord.

Year after year when I celebrate my birthday, You have always given me the same gift, a very special one - and that is JOY Thank You God for this interminable joy in my heart, joy that no one could wipe out. Joy that even in the midst of trials and confusion still remains.  Joy which I know only comes from You. Thank You.  I will keep this gift forever.

I offer this special day to You, Father. See You later at church. :)  I love you.

My Cirque Du Soleil Experience

Ever since I heard that the Philippines would be one of Cirque du Soleil's world tour destinations this year for Varekai, I knew I wanted to go. In fact in May, I already gave Rolly a heads-up that we're watching, and that the ticket would be his birthday present for me. Hehe. I've known that going to Cirque was expensive, so i already imposed the task on him. =P  But our plans changed, and after a while, Cirque was already out of my mind.

Then a surprise came this week. We got invites to Varekai!!! Special thanks to my wonderful boss, Ms. Lerma Mendoza! :) Take note, these were not ordinary tickets, but Tapis Rouge VIP tickets worth P10,500! The best seats in the house! AMAZING! :)
Varekai, according to Wikipedia, means "wherever" in the Romani language, and the show is an "acrobatic tribute to the nomadic soul." The plot is based loosely on the Greek myth of Icarus, who melts his wings after flying too close to the sun. Rather than drowning in the sea below him, in Varekai Icarus lands inside a lush forest, in which the creatures teach him how to fly again.

The acts were spectacular! There was a 'no picture-taking' policy inside the tent, so I just borrowed photos from the Official Site of Varekai to give you a glimpse of  what's in store in case you want to watch the show yourself. ;)
FLIGHT OF ICARUS
ICARIAN
WATER METEORS
TRIPLE TRAPEZE

GEORGIAN DANCE
SLIPPERY SURFACE

SOLO ON CRUTCHES
HAND BALANCING
RUSSIAN SWINGS
AERIAL HOOP

If hearts skip a beat when you fall in love, with Varekai, yours will skip countless beats, literally and figuratively. The breathtaking acts would make your jaw drop. While watching, at the back of my head i was wishing for them to stop.  Hindi kasi ako makahinga, scared they might fall. =D Whew!

Besides enjoying the best seats in the house, the Tapis Rouge VIP tix also allowed us special privileges like access to the Tapis Rouge suite via an exclusive entrance, fine wines and refreshments followed by desserts during intermission catered by The Manila Hotel, a souvenir program, and private restrooms. Weeeee!!! What a grand night it was! :)
