My Hubby is a Great Daddy! :)

If Lia could talk, she would tell you her daddy is the best.  I am very certain of that because I see every day how much she loves her dada, how excited she gets when he comes home, how loud and clear her laughter is when the two of them play, and how glum she feels when she's about to sleep and he's still not around.  The moment she wakes up each morning, her eyes would look for her daddy first, and she would either crawl to him and kiss his lips or put her cheeks on his tummy, then she'd close her eyes again.  If Lia could talk, she'd be very proud to tell you she's a certified daddy's girl, and that her nose and lips and ears and fingers and toes and blood type are all like her dada's.

My little girl's favorite person in the world is her daddy, and all this for good reason.  My husband is a great father.

Since Lia came into our lives, more of my husband has been revealed to me. Between the two of us, he's the one with less sleeping hours, he changes our baby's diapers more frequently than I do, he lovingly carries her in his arms more than I do, he plays with her more than I do.  This is not to say that I am not a good mommy, it's just that he's an extremely great daddy that it's hard to beat the things that he does.  My husband is selfless and patient and loving and amazing; I and Lia and her future sibling/s are super blessed.

I read this quote once on Pinterest:, "The only thing better than having you for a husband is our children having you for a daddy."  My heart has the exact same words.

Thank you for everything, Mahal! Happy Father's Day! You know that we love you soooo much!

Cheers,

Lia's First Sweet Steps

Major achievement unlocked! Our little girl is finally walking! Hooray! :)

She actually took her first sweet steps on her own, without support, on June 9 when she was exactly 14 months and 12 days old.  Though the range when a baby starts walking varies from as young as 9 months up to 18 months, I think Lia is a relatively late walker if I would base it on many babies I know (parents should never compare, I know that, but I'm stating this as a matter of fact :)).  Her pedia actually gave her a 'deadline' to walk (at 15 months), and thank heavens she's able to beat it! Hehe. Good job, little munchkin!  You're as conscious of deadlines as your mommy here! :)

This was taken a week before she finally had the confidence to walk. :)
See how scared she looked? She wouldn't let go!

I think the main reason why Lia's walking took a while was the lack of opportunity and practice. Because I was always on my toes whenever she tried cruising from one spot to another out of fear that she'd fall, my tendency was just to scoop her up and hold her or put her in the crib or on the bed, anywhere safe and soft.  Her yaya was like that too, until we were sort of mandated to "let her go" and make her practice more.  That's what we did, and now she can do it, albeit still wobbly. :) She's still in the "tumbling" phase now, so we're staying very close to catch her when she falls.

My wobbly walker. She's focusing more on her pouting
than her walking. Hehe!

This time, she was distracted because of her hair clips! :))

Pretty soon, we know she'll be fully confident and she'd be walking as if she'd been doing it for months.  We gotta prepare ourselves for a lot of habulan when that time comes. :)

Baby Immunizations and Costs

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," says a popular line from Benjamin Franklin.  This is very true especially when we're talking about preventing diseases in babies who are very fragile and delicate.  Thank God for vaccines, ailments that used to claim countless lives can now be prevented!  We can all have peace of mind knowing that our frail babies are not at risk of infectious illnesses once they've received immunization.

Of course, prevention has a price.  In my baby's immunization record, not a single vaccine was worth less than a thousand pesos.  It could be less (or more) with other pedias or clinics, but I don't think the price difference would be significant.  Listing down below the vaccines Lia has received so far, the cost of each, and the dates when she got them.  Her pedia is Dr. Trinidad 'Nik' Lombos and her clinic that we go to is the one at Asian Hospital.

Slow Down

This video made me cry. :(  My darling Lia, please slow down.

SLOW DOWN
by Nichole Nordeman

Here’s to you
You were pink or blue
And everything I wanted
Here’s to you
Never sleeping through
From midnight till the morning
Had to crawl before you walked
Before you ran
Before I knew it
You were trying to free your fingers from my hand
‘Cause you could do it on your own now somehow

Slow down
Won’t you stay here a minute more
I know you want to walk through the door
But it’s all too fast
Let’s make it last a little while
I pointed to the sky and now you wanna fly
I am your biggest fan
I hope you know I am
But do you think you can somehow
Slow down

Here’s to you
Every missing tooth
Every bedtime story
Here’s to Barbie, cars, light saber, wars
Sleeping in on Sunday
Had to crawl
Before you walked
Before you ran
Before I knew it
You were teaching me
The only thing love can
Hold hands through it
When it’s scary, you’ve got me

Slow down
Won’t you stay here a minute more
I know you want to walk through the door
But it’s all too fast
Let’s make it last a little while
I pointed to the sky and now you wanna fly
I am your biggest fan
I hope you know I am
But do you think you can somehow
Slow down

Please don’t roll your eyes at me
I know I’m embarrassing
But someday you’ll understand
You’ll hold a little hand
Ask them if they can

I am your biggest fan
I hope you know I am
But do you think you can
Somehow
Slow down
Slow down

I love you, Lia.
